Injured cat

[Anyone in Satellite might just come across Darkness, in his jaguar form, limping heavily. He's not putting any weight on his left foreleg (or really moving it, if he can help it), and various patches of matted fur show the location of some of the cuts scattered across his body. Anybody care to help out an injured kitty?]

[He lets out a pained growl, limping toward Crow.]

[Crow reaches out to scratch his ears, looking worried.] Can you change?

[He flinches back from the ear-scratch, stumbling a little and growling lowly.]

[Crow lets his hand drop, then looks down at Whiskers' legs.] Fuck . . . [He looks back up at Whiskers' face.] This is gonna be one big guessing-game if I try to help, ain't it?

[Whiskers stands there shakily, looking down at the ground while he works up the energy to shift.]

[GROWL. You're distracting him, Crow.]

[He backs off a step, worried - what if, instead of being Darkness, this really is some kind of giant cat that could yank his guts out before he ever knew it bit him? And if it is Darkness, what if he's gone crazy? It doesn't seem entirely out of the question.] Nice kitty . . .

[He backs away a little, shutting his eyes.]

[Crow watches, apprehensive, wondering if he should just slowly back away. If it is indeed an animal and it's scared of him - and it appears to be - then he could be in deep shit indeed if it decides the best course is to eat before it gets eaten.]

[After a few moments he manages to shift, biting back a sob as the pain reasserts itself in this form.]

Darkness! [And he's hurrying to close the distance he put between himself and the cat. Maybe it's just him, but Darkness looks damn near ready to fall over.] What the fuck - ?

Light. [He coughs a few times.] Fought. It tried-- [And more coughing.] Tried to strangle me...

[He takes his jacket off to drape over Darkness' shoulders, reaching to touch his arm gently, feeling quite possibly more pissed than he has in his entire life.] You need . . . water or something . . . I'll help you. C'mon. [He reaches for the other's hand.]

[Crow wants to argue, but he isn't entirely sure what leg he'd stand on, so finally he just does what's suggested and stands back.] Don't hurt yourself worse.

[Crow considers his options, reaching down absently to pet Darkness as he does, then remembering why that's A Very Bad Idea and yanking back as though he's been burned.] . . . . c'mon. If we go back to my place I can get Black Bird and we can be at the clinic in like ten minutes. There's one of those space-bender things I found.
