[Crow smiles up at him.] Babe, if I wasn't okay with it, I would have said no. [He leans up to peck Yuusei on the mouth.] I'm a little curious, not gonna lie.

From:

[Yusei smiles a little, but he's still so anxious. Will they get along? Crow and Atem are both good-hearted people, but they're so different.]

You'll like Atem, I think. He's very proud but kind. And hopefully you'll get to meet my fledgling, too.

[He leads Crow into the castle, glancing around before calling for his other lover.] Atem? Are you here?

[Atem, who is sprawled out comfortably on a plush couch, looks up from the book he was reading when he hears Yusei's voice echoing at a distance. He smiles but quickly returns to it. He has no reason to suspect that his lover has anything special planned.]

**I'm upstairs, in the library.**

[He speaks back directly to his mind, preferring not to raise his voice, feeling it's rather improper when the situation doesn't call for it.]

From:

[Crow, meanwhile, is looking all over the place. He's never seen anywhere like this before.] . . . it's big.

From:

Yeah... I know you like our place on the beach. That's why I was nervous about bringing you here. [He takes Crow's hand, gently guiding him to the library. The closer they get, the more anxious he is. He hesitates before he knocks, and he hesitates again before he pushes the door open.]

Atem...? There's someone I want you to meet....

From:

[Atem looks up again, at the two in the doorway. A look of confusion passes over his brow briefly before recognition dawns.]

You're Crow.

[And then he smiles warmly, setting his book down and sitting up.]

From:

Yeah? [For his part, he has no idea who the guy in the freaky harem clothes is. Although he guesses "Atem" is a reasonable guess.] You're the guy Yuusei wanted me to meet.

From:

[Gods, please let this not turn any more awkward.] Yeah... um... Crow, this is Atem. Atem, Crow. Uh... I guess... you've both heard about each other from me, so.... [Talk about not knowing what to do with himself. He looks like he expects them to start fighting over him.]

From:

[Atem raises an eyebrow at that though his expression doesn't falter. This is clearly important to Yusei, and something he wanted as well, and he can be perfectly diplomatic if the situation calls for it. Getting to his feet, he approaches the pair and reaches out to take one of Crow's hands in his own.]

Indeed. It is a pleasure to meet you.

[Crow smiles back, looking a little shy - and awkward himself, as it happens. Social graces are not his strong point.] . . . well - uh - hi.

From:

[Yusei swallows, shifting his weight from foot to foot.] Well... um... I... I guess now that that's done, there's some important things we should talk about, the three of us.

From:

[Yusei's nervous habit catches his attention before the words.] What do you mean?

From:

[Crow reaches for Yuusei's hand to squeeze it.] Something wrong, sweetheart?

[Yusei feels his fledgling approach, looking back to spot the child lingering in the doorway.] Hey, kiddo. Come in and meet Crow. Crow, this is Yuu... he's my fledgling... I mean, I made him like me....

[Aw Yuu, Atem is always delighted to see you. He holds out a hand to him.]

Come in Sheut, it is alright.

From:

I hope he ain't like you if he's that little. [He's probably rather obviously thinking of the Mara. This particular Crow, having grown up in a sex club, is rather awkward with kids - they're not a part of his daily life, after all - and he's not quite sure how he should address the tiny version of his lover who's peering into the room.]

[Yusei gives Crow a nervous look... he can tell his lover feels awkward with Yuu there, but Yuu is part of his family, too.]

He doesn't have the Mara, Crow. It won't pass on to a child. He's phoenix and vampire, though. Atem and I... we're kinda taking care of him, especially since I turned him.

That's right.

[Atem runs a hand through Yuu's hair in return for the nuzzling, clearly very affectionate with the child, but his next words are for the Chimera.]

You said that we should all talk?

From:

[He's not hostile, just . . . ohgod. It's a kid. A KID. A small human being with two arms, two legs, one head, and an only partially developed brain. WHY IS THERE A KID.] . . . uh . . . hi? [OHGOD WHY DOES HIS LOVER HAVE A KID?]

Yuu, you know what Atem and I do when we're alone, right? The things we talked about? [Yes, Yuu got The Talk. He's old enough for it.] Well... Crow and I are close, and we do those things, too. The four of us are like one family, even though we don't all live together.

From:

[Yeah the icon's pretty appropriate right now. Maybe one of these days they'll work on that thing called tact with the kid. Also probably not exactly the way he would've put it but it's done now.]

From:

Ah . . . . [Okay yeah, he's lost.] Yuusei?

Look, we can worry about Yuu's sex education later. Right now, the four of us need to have a talk. We're all in serious danger.

[Whatever humor there might've been in Yusei's face is gone. He looks completely serious.]

From:

[Sighing, Atem looks weary now. Already this has been hard on all of them it seems.]

Might I suggest that we get comfortable then. [He gestures, first to their guest, then toward the chairs and couches.]

From:

[Crow sits, but he looks confused.] Daddy ain't going to hurt any of us, Yuusei. He knows better now.

This has nothing to do with your dad, Crow. This has to do with my-- kiddo, don't do that, it's distracting.

[Yusei reaches for the pocket watch, only for his hand to freeze halfway there as Yuu snaps it shut. The design on the cover... the onyx arc with the golden half-sunburst and the slim silver crescent... he'd know that design anywhere. The next words out of his mouth are quiet and high-pitched, shaking.]

... wh-- where did you get that?!

[Atem doesn't really know where the conversation is going exactly, so he's content to just take his seat quietly, only looking up when Yusei starts, gently concerned.]

Is everything alright?

From:

[Crow reaches for Yuusei's hand.] Babe?

[Yusei takes a quick look into Yuu's memory, only to shriek and yank the watch out of the boy's hands.]

Kalin... you met Kalin?!

[He thrusts the watch out toward Crow and Atem, showing them the distinctive logo. The hand holding Crow's tightens, shaking.]

This is the logo of the HTRC, the company owned by my sires! This watch is a message, don't you see?! They could've taken Yuu away and there would've been nothing we could do! And you two... you're human... gods know what they would've done to you....

[Atem's concern grows rapidly but it's still not entirely his own. But, the sight of Yusei in the woods won't leave him so soon and he knows that if they don't do something, anyone of them could end up like that too. He eyes Yusei, then Crow, then finally Yuu, the one he worries about most.]

But... what can we do?

From:

Babe? What's going on? [Clueless Crow needs to get a clue.]

[Yusei looks at Crow, so afraid and so sad.]

The ones who turned me into a chimera... they're on the island. You know how I can read your mind? They read mine... they've seen your faces and they know your names, and they'll come for you. They want to destroy everyone I love.

[Squeezing Crow's hand, he looks from one face to another. This is his family, and he would do anything for them.]

Mara have one weakness... anise. The smell of it repels them, and if you throw anise oil in a Mara's face, it will incapacitate them. I'm going to get some oil for all of us, and I want you to carry it with you at all times. As for Jack... sunlight would kill him if he wasn't wearing a sunstone. I don't know what else will affect him besides cutting off his head.

[Atem pulls the littler Yuusei into his arms because he looks like he could use it. Already his sovereign mind is racing, concerned with little more than their wellbeing. He's witnessed first hand the damage they can do to one as strong as Yusei; he doesn't take it lightly.]

While that does sound like a decent start, isn't there anything that can be done to stop them indefinitely? If they know who we are then it is probably reasonable to assume they also know quite a bit about us already.

[Crow slides his arms around Yuusei's waist and leans his head on his lover's shoulder, snuggling close.] I can't stand anise. It tastes like shit.

Considering that even if we killed them, as long as they're on the island, they'll just be brought back? [Chimera sighs, shaking his head.] I don't know. I think all we can do at this point is try to protect ourselves as best we can. If we can find a vulnerability for Jack, that will help. But in the meantime, we can use the anise to drive Kalin off. It makes me sick too, but I'll bathe in it if I have to.
