[Sure, he doesn't know her (although he does know of her, even if he doesn't realize that at the moment) but Pearson is certainly not the type of man to walk by and leave someone who is unarmed and obviously confused in a place that he really isn't sure of the relative safety of. Don't be intimidated by the crossbow he's got slung over one shoulder. That's for dealing with EVIL.]
[Is he embarrassed? Well, somewhat. But he can handle being teased with a certain amount of grace.]
Nobody hired me, I just consider it my duty to keep an eye out. Can never be too careful after all. And if I rescue a fair maiden or two, I suppose that's a bonus. [Now ain't he a charmer?]
[A slight frown creases his brow as he glances up and down the street. He's still getting used to this nonsense himself, having to explain it....]
Finding the orphanage may be... trickier than it should be. Saying that this place is strange is probably an understatement. Wherever you were before, you're certainly not there now. And around here.... [He shrugs.] I've found a few familiar landmarks, but nothing seems to be quite where it should be.
Trust me, I'm not thrilled either. I have a few of my own back home that I'm worried about. [Exceptionally worried. Bolger is not the best role model in the world.] All I know is what I've been told. That this is some strange place that pulls people in from different worlds and times, as long as they're connected to the game Duel Monsters somehow. I don't pretend to understand it or know who's behind it if anyone even is, and I can't say I like it, all I know for sure is that it seems to be the truth.
I'm not sure. If anyone has found a way out, they certainly haven't come back to tell anyone else about it. At the moment I'm looking for decent shelter first, then I'll think about doing some exploring.
"Ah, I'm Mahaado, and this is Set..." Mahaado replied, walking towards the new person. She looked rather responsible... say maybe Yuu would like her?
Set's learned enough to wave a greeting when he heard his name spoken.
"Excuse me for asking, but are you new to this island?" Mahaado asked.
(OOC: In case you're REALLY pine scented fresh new to these two. Set is an illusion created by Mahaado. So unlike the normal rule of understanding, he doesn't. Because he's not real on any level and the language rule doesn't apply to him. And yes he's implied mentally that he doesn't think a lot of people here are responsible.)
"Ah, well if you would like, I could try to explain some of it... well.." Mahaado grew thoughtful, then shrugged. "I can try to help you, if that is acceptable."
Set took this as a chance to just... study the strange part of the island, he rarely comes here.
[ She can't believe she made it out. Somehow. Though that's not exactly comforting, considering she has no idea where she is now. It looks like Satellite, but everything's all wrong. And why is Martha here? ]
[ Actually, she doesn't know how to answer that, because where hasn't she been at this point? And how much time has passed since she was last at home? ]
I'm really sorry, Martha. I've been-- it's complicated. [ And the last place? Awkward. ]
... I don't think this Satellite at all. It's... not right. [ Which is an understatement, really. Not to mention, most of Satellite had been restored last she checked. Another parallel universe, then? ]
[ Protective mode, on. ] Let's get out of the street first.
[ She takes a second to survey their surroundings and get a rough idea of where they'd be if this place was indeed Satellite-- if it's anything close, there should be an apartment complex down the way with light and water still, which will be sufficient for a temporary place to stay until they figure something out. Most of the buildings around them don't look very much like they can support life.]
There might be something close by we can use. [ She turns to Martha. ] This way. [ Unless she has any objections, Yuusei will lead them elsewhere. ]
[ MAGICAL TIME-WARP THEN because. Walking? Anyway, Yuusei leads the way towards an unassuming brick building that happens to not be entirely broken and boarded-up. Though one of the front doors is slightly off its hinges, but that's easily fixed. Hopefully the water and heat work in this version. Yuusei peers inside, listens for the movement of people or rats or otherwise, and - satisfied - moves the door aside as best she can so they can get inside. ]
... I guess it's not that different here. [ She gently braces the door against the wall, making a mental note to look at it later if they end up staying. ]
[ Yuusei agrees with a small hum. It was interesting back when she and Crow had scoped it out ages ago, but no place to live for very long without some serious work, and it in no way compared to the relative comforts of home. By way of furniture and appliances, it has basic necessities, which is novel in itself, but everything is covered in a rather impressive layer of grime. When she tests the sink, the plumbing groans, sputters to life-- the water that comes out is more than a bit rusty at first, but eventually clears up. ]
... Hopefully we won't be here long. [ Until they find something better or end up back home? Anyone's guess at this point. She dusts off a in-fairly-good-condition kitchen chair so Martha can sit, and leans against the counter, frowning. ] But it's possible we might.
[She's... actually surprised. Usually, run down places left abandoned for as long as this one seems to have been would have sludge for water... the fact it's even still having water delivered despite no one being here to maintain the bills or the systems is a miracle in and of itself.]
A little elbow grease and this would be a fine place to live!
[ She nods, hoping all her usual haunts for tools and parts have managed to duplicate themselves in this world too. That would make this go a lot quicker. ] Yeah, it's definitely fixable. Crow thought the place had been used on and off. There's not much mold, so... maybe.
[ She pauses for a bit, and switches gears. An explanation of something or other probably needs to happen here. ]
... Martha. I think I know what happened. To bring you here, I mean.

Robert Pearson? Well then, if you could help me find the orphanage I'd be most obliged. I have no idea how I ended up in this area.
